Truth and Training Thursday

It's Thursday and the girls headed back to AWANA this weekend following the holiday break.

This week, Ashleigh worked hard to be able to complete the second section of her book this week.  This meant memorizing Revelations 1:1-2  as well as the previous 6 verses that she has memorized prior to the winter break.

Ashleigh reciting her verses
The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to His servants the things that must soon take place.  He made it known by sending His angel to His servant John.

Who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all he saw.
-- Revelations 1:1-2

Now the Lord said to Abram, " Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you.

And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing."    Genesis 12: 1-2

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.  -- Proverbs 1:7

I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brothers.  And I will put My words in his mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command him.

And whoever will not listen to My words that he shall speak in My name, I myself will require it of him.    --Deuteronomy 18:18-19

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received:  That Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures.

That He was buried, that He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures
                                                                                                           -- 1 Corinthians 15: 3-4

And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord,  and as many were appointed to eternal life believed.

And the word of the Lord was spreading throughout the whole region.   --  Acts 13:  48-49

So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter.   -- 2 Thessalonians 2:1

In addition to the seven verses, Ashleigh was also required to recite the 66 books of the Bible in its entirety.

Genesis     Exodus     Leviticus     Numbers     Deuteronomy     Joshua     Judges     Ruth

My hat is off to the little toot - she busted her rear and memorized all if it and recited everything with no problem.

Alyssa and her Sparks enjoyed a High Flyers party to celebrate all the hard work that they have done for the first half of the AWANA year.  To be part of the High Flyers, kids must have finished their entrance booklet and the rank for a total of 14 sections.  Their lesson this week was from Luke 2: 41-52 and focused on what it means to be lost in sin and saved by the Grace of God.

Heading into Section 3 of her book, Ashleigh will be working on Genesis 1:26, Genesis 3:1, Genesis 3:6, Romans 5:12, Romans 5:19, 1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17 and Psalms 102: 25-27.
